Simple Syrup (and a few easy variations)
Basic simple syrup is equal parts sugar + water, gently warmed until the sugar dissolves. It sweetens cocktails smoothly and is very versatile.
How To Make Classic Simple Syrup (1:1)
Best for: most cocktails, quick mixing, everyday use
Ingredients

1 cup sugar

1 cup water
Method

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan.

Warm over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, just until the sugar fully dissolves.
Do not boil! Just warm and stir until dissolved. -
Remove from heat and let cool completely.

Transfer to a clean glass jar or bottle.
Storage

Refrigerate.

Best within 2–3 weeks .
Rich Simple Syrup (2:1)
Best for: Old Fashioned-style drinks, spirit-forward cocktails, longer fridge life
Ingredients

2 cups sugar

1 cup water

Same as above—warm gently until dissolved, cool, bottle.

Spices: You can add different spices to your simple syrups such as: cinnamon, pepper, vanilla, cloves.
Simple syrup is the base sweetener in a lot of cocktails, you can make them your own, experiment, taste to make your drinks special and honed to your tastes.
